• Hi, I am looking to setup a 2nd wordpress site with a different domain name, theme and content but looking to have it hosted by the same ISP in a different subfolder, ie example.com.au/newsite/

Am I better to install a 2nd WP installation or go down the multisite route?

I am a little concerned that I may corrupt my existing WP site hence the question post?

Current site is equima.com.au and new site will be missysbucket.com.au.

They will co-exist in the same webspace but reside within different subfolders and webhop to their respective domain addresses.

They will not be sharing any content or themes.

    Thanks in advance.

    Zoe

  • Hey Zoe, as per your situation, I wouldn’t use multisite. What makes multisite so attractive is that you can share themes, plugins, and users between sites on the same network. It doesn’t sound like you’ll be doing that. I’d just install a separate WordPress installation all together.

    Hi Zoe,

As heydonovan said, especially if you do not intend of having more than 2 websites, I wouldn’t go down the multisite route.

Installing 2 separate WordPress instances is easier.

I agree with both of them here. Having 2 separate WordPress would be better. Perhaps an add-on domain in a one hosting environment will do good.
