Do I need an SSL Certificate?

  • I have my site linking to PayPal so a visitor can enter details to make a payment – as PayPal has an SSL certificate does that mean I do not need to get one?

    On my site a visitor must enter their billing address.

  • If you are using PayPal standard which directs visitors to paypal.com for finishing checkout, then no. If you take the credit card number directly on your site (typically PayPal Pro), then yes.
