• Hey thanks for your help!!

I’m confused whether I need a 3rd party host or not.

Do I need a host with wordpress outside of wordpress?

I can see that I can create a blog called myblog.wordpress.com.

Doesn’t mean my myblog.wordpress.com won’t work until I using a hosting service and install wordpress on it?

By work I mean others can see it.

I also see that I can buy a unique domain like myblog.com if I like.

But does that mean I still need to install wordpress on a host like hostgator for my site to work?

I have a blogger site and I didn’t need a 3rd party host with them.

    Does wordpress work differently?

    Thanks!!

  • Becuase you’re using WordPress.COM, no you don’t need a hosting account. You only need a hosting account if you’re running the WordPress software downloaded from www.remarpro.com (this site).

The two are the very differnt, but sort of the same. For the best explanation, see:

    Ah I see. That’s why I’m confused.

    Cheers!

Hosting it yourself is a little better IMHO than on wordpress.com.

You can get free hosting if you look hard enough to get your site stared, try Hostinger.
