Hi, I haven’t found a clear answer to my – rather simple, I guess – question:

Does the free version (plan to upgrade after test) back up the WHOLE site – including blogs or sub-sites when set on the main site? Or, do I set the backup for each individual blog/sub-site?

    Please advise.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

You do not need to backup sub-site individually.

UpdraftPlus is network activated on a Multisite install and can only backup the entire multisite install. From the backup, you can restore a sub-site within the network or migrate the entire multisite install to a new location.

    Kind Regards,

Ok, I get it. But which backup settings are applied: the ones from the network or from individual sub sites? In my network panel I may set the automatic backup interval to, let’s say, weekly but in a sub-site to daily. Which of these settings is applied?

Also, you said above that I can restore a sub-site, only; how exactly would that work if Updraft only produces global (the whole multisite at once) backups?

    Hi,

The free version of UpdraftPlus is not fully compatible with WordPress multisites.

The settings from the Network Admin dashboard will be used for all backups. UpdraftPlus does not backup individual sub-sites.
As such, any sub-site admin will be able to take a backup of the full site

The free version is also not able to restore sub-sites.

We recommend the premium version of UpdraftPlus, or Multisite add-on.
