Hello, I have been using updrafts since 2019, I had set new backups every week retaining 4 weeks each. Sometimes it used to crash the server because the insufficient resources and I disabled backups. Now I want to know the following: Do existing backups affect server performance? or was it caused by processes while back up was being created?

If I manually backup and save it on drive.google will it store a copy on server too?
I want to backup manually and then store it on the drive and locally on pc, will these cause any server performance trouble?

So in short will one time backup (saved on google drive and locally) store anything (backup files) on the server that can cause more consumption of server resoources?

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Existing backups will only take server disk space. It will not affect the performance.

You have the option to just keep the backups on your remote storage and delete backups on local server. To do this, go to UpdraftPlus ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Show expert settings’ > select ‘Delete local backup’ and make sure to click the ‘Save Changes’ after. This will then tell UpdraftPlus to delete the backup after it is sent to your remote storage.

    Thanks,

so if I go to UpdraftPlus ‘Settings’ tab > ‘Show expert settings’ > select ‘Delete local backup’ and click the ‘Save Changes’
This means that backup files will have nothing to do with server resources and backup will be saved only on the drive, is it correct?

I get that server stored backup won’t affect the performance but I don’t want it to take server space.

    Hi,

    Apologies for the late reply.

Yes, that is correct. UpdraftPlus will delete all local backups after the backups are successfully sent to your remote storage.

    Thanks,
