Do Auto Generated Meta Descriptions apply to old posts?

    A number of months ago I confirmed that auto-generated meta descriptions could be toggled on inside AIOSP to have meta descriptions applied to all of our blog pages. At some point since that time, the AIOSP plugin was updated and appears to have made auto-generated meta descriptions a default feature. On many of our recent blog posts, I can see what appears to be an ASIOP-generated description, e.g.:

    <meta name="description" content="content here">

    However on old posts (2010) like the one in the link provided, there is no meta description. Does the new default only apply to pages created since it was toggled on?

    @plambie they should apply to old posts. Do they all belong to the same post type?

    Yes, and when I edit the page I linked to in the original post I can see the plugin describing how the description will be displayed:

    And I can see the plugin generating its <head> elements on the page inside this comment block:

    <!– All in One SEO 4.0.17 –>
    metas etc here
    <!– All in One SEO –>

    But there is no <meta name=”description” in there (but it is there in more recent posts)

    @plambie what does the preview snippet in the metabox show for the description?

    It definitely looks like it is generating a meta description at edit time. I also tried just pressing ‘update’ on the page thinking maybe it needed to be re-published, but no dice.
