I asked about this a while ago, and I have since been searching, but I still haven’t found what I’m looking for, I still get warned about:

Action Needed: It doesn’t look like the DKIM record required by Google has been added to your domain. Please check out Google’s DKIM guide for details on how to add this record to your domain’s DNS.

Fact: All my domains have DKIM, SPF, and even DMARC. I know this because I put it all there, and MXToolbox agrees, on all of the above.

Well, I’m not sure what language Google use in that DKIM guide, but it’s not English, because even though I’m an English teacher, I still can’t fix this ‘problem’. You basically need something well beyond a Masters to understand almost any of Google’s documentation, in any language.

Test emails are otherwise being sent and received just fine. In fact, all emails are being sent and received. But still, if your plugin says I need to take action, and I do, it would be nice if your plugin could see and acknowledge that, or say nothing.

Can we please sort out this false positive? Pretty please?

  • Hi @sean-h,

Thanks for reaching out and I’m so sorry about the inconvenience.

To troubleshoot this DKIM error you see on your site, can you please send a test email to the email address shown when you visit?https://www.mail-tester.com/??Please see here:?https://i.imgur.com/CoZaCaE.png

After sending the test email, please click the button to?Check your score. (https://i.imgur.com/BCeJaq4.png)

When you do this, a report should be displayed showing any issues with the DKIM record of your SMTP mail server.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks ??

DKIM is all in order, always has been. I think what the problem was is I’ve been routing WordPress emails via my @gmail account, but with a custom alias, such as admin@domain.

What I have done now is switched to ‘Other SMTP’, so emails are now being sent direct from Siteground email servers, I already had the mailboxes. Gmail isn’t involved anymore. I now get a massive big grey envelope with only a success message. No more warnings of any kind.

Yes, I know that in both cases such services may have volume limits, but seeing as I don’t run an e-commerce store, yet, and I’m the only one who needs to get emails from my websites right now, I think SG email will work. It’s mostly only Broken Link Checker that needs to tell me when I have broken links. But yes, if/when we open an e-store I’ll re-evaluate this all again.

About using ‘Other SMTP’. I see a copy of the email sent is not kept in the mailbox. Can you confirm this? This is good if such is true because I don’t want these boxes filling up. I have also set these mailboxes to discard any attempted replies in the future as I don’t plan on monitoring them.

I think all the Google docs I’ve been reading are for when you use custom domains at Google Workspace. With that in mind, do you think you could make it clearer that if a user is doing what I’ve been doing, using @gmail to send email with an alias, it is not possible to get the plugin to see that DKIM is in fact in order. Or is it?
