dividing posts into cathegories

I choose theme Thirteen. In widgets I can put categories on sidebar, but it’s rather kind of decoration, you can’t get there. I know I should create pages for different cathegories – but how to connect page with cathegory? When I will be posting later, will posts go automatically into specific page?
