Divi ‘update’ and ‘preview changes’

I’m using the current Divi version. I’ve just noticed with alarm, that when I make changes to my website, those changes are immediately reflected at the front end, even before I click the ‘update’ button. This is like everything I’m doing at the back end is viewable by the public.

Is there some setting I can change, something I’ve done wrong? Or is there a way I can make the website temporarily unavailable while I make changes?
