Hi Steven,
Thanks ??
When a page builder is used on a page or post, the automated description generation will be turned off for it.
The reason is that we simply can’t (easily) detect if the content within the builder is meant for all visitors.
Also, sometimes, the content put in by page builders could not reflect the user-targeted content. Page builders are great for many things, but they supply a need which is solved unconventionally: through shortcodes (as you’ve already noticed).
For now, there’s no way to disable the page builder detection. You could however do one of the following:
- Always recommended, even if you don’t use the Divi Builder! Make use of the excerpt field. Use this as an extended description field. Many themes, and The SEO Framework, makes use of this field. For example, they can be used in Archive pages to give users a preview what the post is about. They’re also used in the automated description, and more characters are used for Social sharing (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
- Also recommended, but not as much as 1. Fill in your own custom description. This description will be prominently shown in Search Engine result pages and will also be used exactly “as-is” on Social sharing.
The custom description has a higher priority than the excerpt, and then comes the content (if any is found and accepted).
I hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask ??
