distinct number of blogpostings and asides

  • I have asides by filtering on a category number in the loop.

    However if there are 25 asides sequentially and no blogpostings on a certain /page/# then it shows no blogpostings.

    How would i make it so that there are always 10 blogpostings and 25 asides on any given /page/#.

    Would i have to rewind the set or can it be done smarter?

    Hmmm should i actually use

    query_posts("cat=-14,-1172");

    OR should I first set the variables with $wp_query->set('tag__not_in',$tagarray);
    and only then
    $wp_query->get_posts();

    its not totally clear from me from the codex which of the two approaches i should take.
