Dissapearing Designer – How to add pages?

  • Hello,

    I have exhausted my resources and contacts in trying to find a solution to this issue. Hopefully someone here can be of assistance!

    We had a new website (www.thefield.ca) designed and launched early 2013 and have had no issues maintaining it or posting (until now). Our designer has gone completely MIA and we are attempting to add pages to the site. The way it is set up right now, is our News page lives on the main dashboard (www.thefield.ca/admin), while each individual page has to be be logged into individually (ie. we enter https://www.thefield.ca/Aarona/admin to access and edit that page). Within each page, it is maintained under Portfolio.

    Now we are seeking to add a few pages to our Directors page, but have not been able to figure out how to create a new page to edit and post on. The only thing we can’t do is create a new page and add it to our list of existing directors. No idea how.

    We did manage to track down the WordPress theme designer, however he cannot help us until we provide the “purchase code”. Any ideas where we can find that? The designer never provided us with it.

    You can add new pages by simply going to “Pages > Add New” and then setting it as a child of the directors page.

    We’ve tried that.
    I think I can find my way around it except for one issue… We can’t figure out how to generate the link to use. We’ve sorted out how to add and edit the page, but creating the actual live URL has us stumped. Any ideas?

    Hi nburry,

    When you create a page in WordPress the url is created automatically and you can view the url permalink path under the post title on a post for example.

    Thanks. We have that but is there a way to edit? All our URL’s are https://www.thefield.ca/directorname but this one is showing as https://www.thefield.ca/portfolio/directorname and can’t be changed.

    It’s showing that because its a child of the portfolio post type. That is not changeable unless you remove it from being a child.
