• My web hosting recently disrupted my service due to an administrative mixup. I was able to get it back but had to sign up again to re-establish the account. Now my wordpress blog that I’ve had for the past year is not there. How can I get it back?

  • Contact your hosts for assistance in accessing Phpmyadmin.

If worpress backed up my database, what does my host have to do with that? Please explain. Thanks

WordPress does not back up your database. That is your responsibility. Also www.remarpro.com distributes and documents the WordPress application but has no connection with any site running that software. You need to contact your hosts first for assistance in accessing Phpmyadmin.

So what is this file that was backed up through my wordpress blog:
    ptbcv_wp_20130430_724.sql

    Try asking your hosts!

But this is a wordpress file.

No – it is not. It is a database backup file. WordPress does not create database backup files by default. www.remarpro.com does not have access to your site so cannot create a database backup of your site. However, your hosts can. Try asking them.

    Ok. Thanks for your patience

The file is called: ptbcv_wp_20130430_724.sql. How do I use this file to restore my blog?

By using server-level features available at your server cPanel. Certain WordPress plugins can extract things from your database to make a backup, but using that backup to restore your database at the server where it is actually separate from WordPress is a different matter.

When I try to go to my old blog https://proudtobecapeverdean.com/ptbcv/wp-login.php, I get not found.

Also, why can’t I sign in to my old wordpress account that I had (Nov 22) before Yahoo deactivated my account? Thanks

I see a WP site installed here:

    https://proudtobecapeverdean.com

But the login goes to 404. Did you start with a new site? What did you put for Settings > General – URL?

You seem to have installed or moved this site to a folder called phpmyadmin! Try https://proudtobecapeverdean.com/phpmyadmin/wp-login.php

why can’t I sign in to my old wordpress account that I had (Nov 22) before Yahoo deactivated my account?

    Perhaps because Yahoo deactivated it?
