  • Yes same problem

Exact same problem, going back to latest version doesn’t bring disqus back up either.
The problem started after i cliked “upgrade database” as requested by wordpress settings.

I’ve worked it out. Look for Disqus in your plugin list and click settings. At the top it’ll say that Disqus is ‘disabled’. Simply ‘enable’ it.

Thanks Steven Preece for you advice and posting in the first place. Yes that was it. Obviously the upgrade somehow through the switch. ??

I have a problem beyond this…though disqus says enabled, there is no pass forum_id (forum id set) so it is not working…

I have tried reinstalling several times and it doesnt seem to go anything if I enter username and password.

And all this started after I got click to upgrade which I did!

I am having the exact same problem as sweetvincent.

Following the upgrade I was asked to update my database when I try to my Disqus ID and password are not accepted as a matter nothing happens at all it just refreshed the page.

I have an identical development site that I cloned from the main site Disqus was not updated on the development site and still works fine. I’ve noticed that the Disqus setting seem to be different on the page that works and on the development site that doesn’t.

The differences are on the non working site the short name is missing and it looks like some other info in the de-bug information area posted below is missing as well.

    I got it fixed. I got in touch with disqus and they suggested two fixes which worked;

You cannot login with your email address so use your username.

And make sure you do not have underscore or any other funny character in your username because according disqus, it is a security issue they fixed so the underscore in my username was causing that.

So all I did was to change my username….

So change your username to something simple and sign in to install, after that you can change it to whatever…

https://disqus.com/account/ (click edit profile → account tab)

    Hope it works for you

This did work for me. I had an underscore in my user name ??

I was wondering how you got a hold of Disqus to get this information. I wish it had been made public before the update. That single underscore cost roughly 3-4 hours of time and troubleshooting!

I dropped them an email. They re pretty quick with email response…Yeah they should have made this known to the public…

Currently, my comments are not sync from disqus to wordpress—will try and see if I can sort it out or try find out from them what is happening!

    Good it helped!

TY for the info about the E-Mail!

IF you go to the Disqus Plugin under “Settings” toward the bottom of the page there is a section called “Import” In it there is a button to sync WordPress comments with Disqus. I hope this helps, I owe you big time for the heads up about the underscore ??

Yeah, that is manual sync which will work, I want it to automatically sync…That is my problem. It was working fine before until this update!

Too bad they don’t monitor their own plugin here at wordpress.

    hi,
plugin after the update was not enabled, I do not know why this is at least 2 years that I use.
but suddenly people have left comments and although I clicked on “sync” I do not see the comments on my site, what to do?
    thank you

After updating database, Disqus stopped to work. Its active but still not working. Standart wordpress comment system is shown on my posts and pages.

When I open settings (Comments -> Disqus in my wp dashboard) it gives me an error:

Unable to save changes. Make sure you are accessing this page from the WordPress dashboard.

The same message I get pressing ‘Settings’ for Disqus from plugins list.

Reinstallation didn’t help. Any suggestions to make it work?

    Thanks.
