Displaying Tags in a page

The Template Tag, the_tags() must be use in a Loop.

In a non standard loop this may be necessary:

<?php
//this is necessary to show the tags
global $wp_query;
$wp_query->in_the_loop = true;
?>

should this pull any tag that was created? i can’t seem tot get it to fire
