Displaying selected posts on different pages

I am trying to develop a blog so i created two categories new and reviews and then whenever i create a news content i check the news category from the category moreover i have also created a menu on my Home page which redirects to news category so i whenever i click news on the home page i can browse through all the News articles. Have i did it correctly or i should have used pages instead of categories as in drupal. Please Suggest THANKS
