Displaying Images in Sidebar with text widget

Well, I’ve just got an image to appear in the sidebar but only by copying and pasting the “image linked to thumbnail” code from the manage uploads page.

Which is great for showing an image as a link.

But the url code to just display the same image (without it linking to anything) still isn’t showing the graphic in the sidebar:

Perhaps there’s something wrong with this bit of code?

Woo! By a process of elimination it seems that the code to diplay an image in the sidbar looks like this:
<img src=’https://localhost/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2007/04/p1.gif&#8217; title=’p1.gif’ alt=’p1.gif’ />

Which is different to the code shown on the faq page:

Am I Missing something? why the difference in codes?

My code that actually works:

There is no difference in codes. The first bit of code you tried should also work. What you have done though is made a typo.

Instead of img src= you have typed img scr=

Ashwan’s got it, but you should also end the [x]html with </img> for it to be valid.

so it should be <img src=”https://www.image.com/location.jpg></img&gt;

Actually you should use a “self-closing” tag like so <img src="https://www.image.com/location.jpg" />

That’s a space and a forward slash at the end of the tag.

You’d need this only if you want your page to validate as XHTML.
