Displaying Future Posts

I am looking at using one category to display a calendar of events in my site. Therefore I need to be able to display posts that have a future date, but only for one category. I want to pull the latest (i.e. nearest to todays date) 3 posts from the calendar category and then display them on the front page of my site through a simple query.

The three columns with the red headers. One of them I would like to display the latest three calendar events which will be in the future.

Anyone any ideas of how to go about doing this? Searching for display post in the future comes up with different things, but none seem to be just what i need.
