Displaying code snippets

  • I have some VB code I want to display in a post. Tried the <pre> tag but this doesn’t seem to work. Did a search and found some info about backticks. Tried the backtick thing but it didn’t seem to work. So, some questions:

    Just how does this backtick thing work? Is it a plugin? Does it work on blocks or is it only within a line?

    Why does the <pre> tag not work? Is there a plan to support literal text in WP? What am I not understanding here?
