    Hi David and other readers

On the page mentioned above I use the folling shortcode:
    [mla_gallery attachment_category=post-favorite-for-best-of-gallery posts_per_page=30 orderby=date order=DESC mla_alt_shortcode=phnic_gallery][mla_gallery attachment_category=post-favorite-for-best-of-gallery posts_per_page=30 mla_output=”paginate_links,prev_next”]

Clicking on one of the images they show in the lightbox mode. I would like to see my captions (all defined with Media Assistant and visible on the Thumbnails) underneath the lightbox-image. Plus I would like to have forward/backward buttons in the lightbox view. How can I do this?

    I appreciate you help. Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thank you for your question and for the link to your site. You have many beautiful images and adventures there.

When you use MLA’s “Support for Other Gallery-generating Shortcodes” and the mla_alt_shortcode parameter MLA selects the items for the gallery, then passes a list of the item IDs to the other shortcode to compose the gallery. MLA does not play any part in formatting the gallery items or information such as captions. MLA does not have any control over the lightbox features provided by the alternate shortcode.

Many gallery-generating shortcodes provide a way of navigating forward and backward in their lightbox view. You will have to examine the documentation for the phnic_gallery shortcode to see what it can be configured to do. The same advice applies to displaying the caption text as well. Keep in mind this warning from the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab:

?Note that MLA does not play any role in formatting the gallery display, so MLA-specific parameters such as?mla_caption?and?mla_link_href?are not processed.

I hope you are able to find features in the alternate shortcode that give you the results you want. I am marking this topic resolved, but please update it if you have problems or further questions regarding MLA’s support of other gallery-generating shortcodes. Thanks for your interest in MLA.

Thanks for the answer, David. It drove me into the right direction to solve my problem.
I found settings in my Gallery Plugin “Photonic”, which allows me to select various lightbox libraries. At least one of them displays captions in lightbox mode. Issue is solved indeed.
