• I’ve now added a youtube plugin and activated it but still cannot see the vid clips displayed properly on my blog.

    What’s the problem?

  • URL please?

    or

    How is it being displayed IMproperly?

    From what I can gather so far:

    Currently displays like this:
    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8zFOBxEvds]

    Needs to look like this:

    [youtube V8zFOBxEvds]

    in order to display properly.

    That’s a MAJOR PROBLEM … as I cannot go back and re-work each of the individual video URL’s I have posted on my site for the last year to show only the youtube ID, rather than the entire URL.

    ==============================

    Is there a specific video plugin I can use which will automatically display each of the video URL’s I already have on my blog which use the standard wordpress.com blog format?

    e.g. [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8zFOBxEvds]

    By no means am I positive but I THINK you’re going to have to either redo the previous links or just let them stay as they are and make new ones in the new format.

    There just has to be a plugin of some sort that I can add, and then activate, which will allow all of my previous videos (imported to my new site) to display properly, as is …

    e.g. [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8zFOBxEvds]

    There just HAS to be. Right?

    Someone please help. ??

    [youtube=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8zFOBxEvds]

    ive registered to try and figure this out.

    to me, it would seem to be a VERY common thing for people to want to embded youtube videos.

    and lo, there is even a button right in wordpress for it!
    and lo, there are a bunch of different methods.
    and lo, not a single one will work for me.

    when trying it the way it seems to be designed for, i get a yellow box with the flash logo while editing. but when i preview, that space is deleted.
    ive tried every combination i can think of. url, embed code, visual window, html window…
    now im trying this “youtube=…” code from above, and its still doing nothing for me. where does that go?

    why is this so hard? how does it work?
    thanks for any help!

    ??

    well, ive since found all the other abandoned Youtube threads!
    what is going on here?
    why are the questions about youtube being ignored?
    embedding youtube is a pretty common practice im guessing…?
    so… ?

    is it a (secret)?

    I’ve never managed to get them to work, but I know someone has been able to without issue it seems over at FanDominion.com. *shrug*

    Possibly installing Viper’s Video Quicktags plugin can help you.

    Thread Starter khandor

    (@khandor)

    I don’t think Viper’s can help me at all.

    I have tens/hundreds of youtube (and other) video clips on my original wordpress.com blog … none of which are currently working with the new version I’m now trying to self-host (after exporting/importing the .xml file).

    Viper’s uses only the ‘youtube ID’ … not the wordpress.com youtube short-cut (e.g [youtube=https://www.youtube.com=ID?]).

    It just isn’t practical to go back and fix each of the individual short-cuts I have in my blog.

    What I need now is a specific plugin that will allow my existing videos … which are set in place with the wordpress.com youtube short-cuts … to display and play as is … and then would allow me (and others, also) to continue installing new youtube videos to my new self-hosted blog in this same way (i.e. using short-cuts).

    Can someone create a plugin that does this?

    Hi, personally I think Smart You Tube is about the easiest plugin to enter videos. but the url does need to be changed eg: http to httpv

    hey buddy, maybe gecko tube or EasyTube can solve your problem. Solved to me.

    Sorry but “smart youtube” was working well on my two blogs and suddenly, poof, all blank space. Might be after doing all recent updates but cannot find any reason. Frustrating.

    a quick note – i tried gecko tube, though this plugin has not been updated for a while, it still works like a magic in my new self-hosted blog transfered from wordpress.com.

    cheers
