NEVERMIND — I found that v2.03 actually DOES work on WP 4.0.1.
But apparently i can’t delete or edit my original post.
If this helps anyone, here’s what i found:
i updated Display Widgets to v2.03, and at first it SEEMED to NOT work properly on WordPress 4.0.1, because my widgets all appeared on all pages — they were no longer controlled by the plugin.
However, after looking closer, i saw that the UI changed from my prior verion (1.19), and each widget now defaulted to “HIDE on checked pages”. Once i changed that to “SHOW” (which i had before the update), and then SAVED the new settings for each widget, the widgets displayed on my site as they should.
