    Hello,

Thank you for this fine plugin! I have rated it 5 stars, although it’s lacking a feature I need.

Could you, please, make it possible for counters to remain visible after someone has already voted? Right now, after you vote for a post, the YES/NO counters are no longer visible, which is not… helpful (no pun intended).

For example, on Amazon or IMDb, after you vote for a review, you can still see how other people voted. So, when you visit that review, say, 3 months later, you can see how the voting has developed since your own vote was cast. This is not currently possible with your plugin, but I think it should be.

Also, I think the plugin should perhaps indicate how I voted, and it should be possible to change my vote from YES to NO (or vice versa) later on.

Thank you for your help! Vielen Dank für die Hilfe!

PS: As I happen to be an English and German translator, a hint to improve the default question so that it doesn’t sound “Denglish”: ?? Instead of…

“Let us know, if you liked the post. Only in this way, we can improve us.”

… it could be something like this:

“Let us know if you liked the post. That’s the only way we can improve.”

(In English, there is typically no comma preceding “if”, anders als im Deutschen; and the verb “improve” is not reflexive in English, unlike “sich verbessern” in German.) ??

    Hi Faterson!

Thanks for your feedback! Showing votes after voting is a good idea. I put this on our todo list. The idea that users can see what they have chosen is not that good, because there are new laws for storing data (DSGVO/GDPR). The plugin should be as easy as possible to use. With saving from user data, we must pass a phrase in every privacy policy. I think that is not so good.

I will gladly accept the translation in the next update. I am not a professional. I just using my school English and a bit of Google. The plugin was originally intended for German.

Thank you very much. Well, if at least the vote count after voting is displayed, that will be good enough for me.

(GDPR is an extreme annoyance and something the EU should be ashamed of – I’m ashamed of our EU bureaucrats as an EU citizen – but I suppose there’s nothing we can do about that.)

I just saw that I already integrated that. You can use {pro} and {contra} to output the positive in negative votes in numbers. You can integrate that into your texts.

Just paste (example) in the “Already voted” field: You have already voted for this post. This post has a total of {pro} positive and {contra} negative votes.

Many thanks, Pixelbart, that’s just great! Here is a screenshot showing how I ended up designing it.

The code for that, in case anyone else would like to use something similar:

    <div style="text-align: center;"><em><span style="font-size: 0.8em;">You have already voted for this review.</span></em>
    <span style="font-size: 0.8em;"><em>The current score (</em>helpful<em> vs. </em>not helpful<em>) is:</em></span></div>
    <div style="text-align: center; margin-top: 0;"><b><span style="font-size: 2.0em;"><span style="background: green; color: white;">?{pro}?</span> —?<span style="background: crimson; color: white;">?{contra}?</span></span></b></div>

Oh, and one more English grammar correction suggestion, which I happened to notice while fiddling with the settings. Instead of:

These option is useful by using the shortcode ([helpful]).

… it could be something like:

This option is useful when using the shortcode [helpful].

    Vielen Dank nach Berlin! ??

Awesome and thank you! I collect some strings now and then add them to the next update. I did not want to include more styling options because I want to keep the plugin as small as possible.

Thanks! (I’m living in North Rhine Westphalia :D)

Ah, sorry about that! I visited the Devhats site and thought I saw some Berlin references, but I must have confused it with a different site. ??
