• I can’t find an answer to this puzzle, so must post.

I did something a long time ago to optimize “responsive design.”

On a computer, tabs on my site are supposed to display on the nav bar. They still sometimes do after I refresh several times.

But usually, now (on a computer)…

    1. The nav bar is blank (no tabs) except for
    2. a small square with three horizontal lines that makes the tabs display or go away.
    3. The tabs are stacked like nav bars and
    4. stretch all the way across the page.

This is probably what I want for phones. But it’s inconsistent on a computer; sometimes the tabs display the way they should and sometimes they go phone-display.

Is anybody else dealing with this?

Can anybody post a link to a discussion about what to do?

  • Markup varies by theme and it sounds like you have further customised the styles, so its unlikely anyone has exactly the same problem. If you would like to post the url to your site it may be possible to suggest style changes.

    Thank you!

I used a theme generator (Artisteer) for the theme. I tried Artisteer’s attempt to automate responsive design in the themes it generates a while back, and got weird results like this. Undid it. But forgot to undo it on this particular site. Switched off “use responsive design” and it’s fine now.
