Display only magnifier icon, which can trigger search box

Hello Support:

Since I am having difficulty reducing the width of the search box, I would like to try an alternative.

Is it possible to display only the magnifier icon, which, when clicked, would launch the searchbox? Using only the magnifier would allow me to fit search in my header and mobile footer.

How would I accomplish this?
