Display one XML item?

I was hoping that there would be a simple soulution on this, maybe just a few lines in the index even. I have looked into full blown rss parsers and stuff, it’s a bit over my head though…
Basically, I’d like to grab the most current Item data for:
https://www.electoral-vote.com/index.rss
All I want is a single line of text that would be on my page like:
Sunday Oct 3: Kerry 238, Bush 296
I don’t need the link, the description or anything else. Is there a line of code that would go ‘fetch’ this line out of the xml file?
I’ve tried searching around – maybe it’s that I don’t know what to search for…
