If you want to only display one event you can set up a list display but change the option “Number of Events per Page” to “1” “Event”.

That will show the next event happening.

Let me know if that helps.

    Thanks!

We’ll give it a try. Will it require setting up a different feed number from the feed number we’re sending to the Web site now?

No if you just modify that particular feed settings then it will keep the Feed ID number the same.

This works – sort of. The “1” event being displayed is from today but a few hours into the future. How can we get it to grab “now”? And, what does “Display start Date Offset” do?

We’ve tweaked our Google calendar setup and that seems to help narrow the window of what’s being pulled in, however we still can’t get it to display “right now”

Make sure your timezone settings are correct in the WP admin area. Maybe that is why it is showing a few hours off?

Thanks for that! Time zone settings have been correct. We just need the widget to display the event “now”.

I’m not sure I 100% follow. If you want it to only show events that are happening at the current time and nothing else (when there isn’t an event right “now”) then I’m not sure if that is possible at the moment.

    Is that what you mean?

Screen shots would help. How can we get them to you?

You can use something like jing to take screenshots and then just post the links here. Or any other file sharing type of service where you can share a link: dropbox, box, onedrive, etc.

Thanks will work on getting screen shots tomorrow. Meanwhile please visit the link below to see how the tool is working for us on a page.

    https://www.kohlradio.com/mainwp/kohl-dj-schedule/

We want to pull the same DJ schedule into a home page widget, but show only one “event” (DJ slot) at a time – based on the time one visits our home page. So far, we’ve been able to get one event to display, however it is the wrong event.

We’ve loaded the update, and were hoping it would help us iron out the issue we’ve been having. Perhaps what we want can’t be done!
    Here are screen shots:

The home page grab shows how we want to use the feed. Look above the dark grey area and find the calendar event displayed. The only problem is: the time showing is 12 am to 6 am. Right now in California it’s after 4 pm. We want the feed to display the event that falls during the time one visits the Web site. So in this example, the event displayed should be “On-air now: J. P. Garcia”

We’ve even created a new feed for the home page widget, separate from the feed being displayed on our calendar page.

Ok so the issue with the times is probably just a timezone issue.

Make sure you have the timezone set correctly on the google calendar event and also in your WordPress admin. If you don’t know how to set it in your WP admin then see the first FAQ here: https://wpdocs.philderksen.com/google-calendar-events/faqs/

Then if you change “Events per Page” to “Number of Events” then it should show the next event available or the one currently running. For example if is an event that runs from 4-6pm and you visit at 5pm it should still show that event.

    Hmm. Our timezone setting:

    Number of events setting:

    https://www.kohlradio.com/images/KOHL-number-of-events.PNG

These are both our original settings.

    As is this:

Please clarify this from your FAQ page:

The start and end times of my events are not displaying in the correct timezone, how do I make them display correctly?

First, check that the timezone of your Google Calendar is set correctly (in the calendar settings in Google Calendar), then check that the ‘Timezone adjustment’ option in the plugin feed settings is set correctly.

Where is the ‘Timezone adjustment’ option in the plugin feed settings?
