    Two problems:

1- In the prior version of EasyModal we were able to have a circular background around the close symbol (“X”, etc.). This no longer is an option in the new version. The background is now an oval shape or rectangle with rounded corners. We have tried every size and design configuration and have been unable to obtain a circle behind the close symbol/text.

2- In the prior version, we were also able to have the close symbol/text appear outside of the modal box, or even partially outside of the box. We now longer have this ability either. The close symbol/text will not display outside of the box, even using exact positioning and negative values.

Hence, we have reverted back to the prior version of the plugin until these issues can be resolved.

Has anyone else experienced these issues, or identified a solution?

As an addendum, we think the new version looks GREAT, and we love the new features/abilities.

We are hopeful that these are just minor issues that can be easily addressed in the coming days, as we would like to be using the latest version of the plugin on our sites.

    Thank you.

Hey Gunny, I have not seen this and we tested positioning very extensively.

Does it look correct in the visual editor preview?

We are trying to fix any bugs quickly so if you dont mind re enabling it to help me debug quickly I would be glad to patch it immediately.

Just testing if i add min-width:1em; to the close button it will make it perfectly round. Will add that now as i dont see any adverse effects.

As for position have you tried setting using negative positioning. So set it to top right, then -10px top and -10px right will put it on the corner. You technically can position it entirely outside the modal as some of our upcoming examples will show.

Please update to v2.0.6 and let me know if that fixes the round close button issue.

    Thanks.

When viewing the modal in the visual editor preview it looks correct (almost).

The positioning is perfect, and the background for the close symbol “X”, looks fairly circular (although it still has a ‘squarish’ appearance, like a square with heavily rounded corners. This is all acceptable.

However, when we display the modal on our site, it looks completely different. The close button does not display outside of the modal at all and the circle background for the “X” is now an oval.

We did not encounter any of these problems in the prior version.

I will post links to screen captures in a moment or two.

Here is how the modal appears in preview mode:

Note that the background for the close symbol “X” is not really a circle. It looks OK, but if you prefer a large X and background (and we do), then the circle becomes more squared off as you increase size. Not entirely a deal-breaker, but annoying.

…and here is how the modal appears on our site:

    VERY different.

Again, none of these problems surfaced in the prior version.

Thanks for the wonderfully quick response on this!

    Hey Gunny,

Do you by change have a link i can inspect. Also do you use any type of cacheing that may need to be refreshed to force the newest css changes?

I see several differences between your admin preview image and the front end which is a bit bothersome for us to say the least as we have not had that. Also i will better be able to assess the squareish close button if i can see it and tweak it using firebug to find whats missing or needs to be changed.

Our site is not yet public, but I would be happy to give you admin access if I can obtain an email address to send the credentials to.

Thank you for looking into this, and for the great service. Your plugin is the BEST of the many we’ve tried, and the new version is even better. Well done!
