Thank you for using the plugin.

The plugin fires an event when the reponse is recieved

You may bind to that event from your theme as shown in this code
https://github.com/sbrajesh/bp-live-notification/blob/master/assets/js/bpln.js#L66

and update the topbar instead of the adminbar.

Unfortunately, I am not a programmer and am not realy sure on where to paste these pieces of code to make it work.
