    Is there a special reason why you recommend to use the picture tag instead of rewrite rules? Correct me if I‘m wrong, but the picture tag method does not serve webP images for example in background-images and the rewrite rules method does.

    If you do not have Cloudflare or CDN active, it is recommended to use rewrite rules to server next-gen formats. Feedback about the recommended mention has already been shared internally.
