Display image of Additional Category Group

I have another category set, that is tied closely with the rest of my site. I am able to assign events to any of these categories. However, I would like to be able to display the category images for those categories first, then the fall back would be the ‘native’ events manager categories. Is this possible?

(ex. Priority of Images: 1.Event Specific Image; 2.Additional Category Set Image (ministry image); 3.Location Based Image (last resort)

Right now if #1 isn’t present, I am displaying #3. I REALLY would like to have #2 be the ‘default’ unless #1 exists.
