    hi david

i have spent quite some time in the suppor forums but – as it’s the nature of the business – loads of information is outdated or much time has passed in the meantime and you might have added some functionalities which you were mentioning earlier in this support forum.

like others before, i’m trying to list the hierarchical taxonomies (e.g. attachment_category) according to their parent/child relation:

    Parent1
    – Child1.1
    – Child1.2
    Parent2
    – Child2.1
    – Child2.2

as mentioned before, i have found some other posts in this forum, asking you the very same question and you’ve already explained the complexity of the hierarchy taxonomies in very detail and you (and also other forum users) have also provided some php examples. you’ve also mentioned in some posts, that you might consider such a functionality (maybe as short code option?) in future versions of mla.

that’s basically my question: have you implemented an “easy” way (easy = e.g. parameter in shortcode) to display the hierarchical structure of taxonomies (e.g. like a cloud list , dropdown, checkbox etc.) in the plugin yet?

    thanks again

Thank you for your question and encouragement, which comes at a good time. I am hard at work on a new MLA shortcode, [mla_term_list], which I hope will do what you are requesting.

I am traveling for the next few days, but I will post an update here when I have a new MLA Development Version for your to experiment with. It would be great to get your feedback on my efforts before I complete the project and make an official release.

Could you re-post this question in the MLA Support Forum so other users can benefit from the dialog? Thanks!

Thanks for your patience in awaiting the new shortcode. I am happy to report that I have uploaded a new Development Version dated 20160527 with an initial implementation of the new [mla_term_list] shortcode. To get the Development Version, follow the instructions in this earlier topic:

Shortcode not working in (special) widget

I look forward to working with you to apply the new shortcode to your application design. The shortcode documentation is not complete but contains enough detail to be useful. Go to the “MLA Term List Shortcode” section of the Settings/Media Library Assistant Documentation tab and have a look. I have already applied the new shortcode to another MLA user’s application as described in this earlier topic:

How do I provide a front-end search of my media items using Custom Fields?

Let me know how I can help you put the new shortcode to work. Thanks for your help with this new MLA enhancement.

I have released MLA version 2.30, which contains the [mla_term_list] shortcode and the ‘mla-custom-taxonomy-example.php.txt’ example plugin.

I am marking this topic resolved, but I will continue to work with you to adapt the new features to your application. Post an update here when you have progress to report and questions/problems I can help with.

    hi david

sorry for my late reply, time’s been running me over during the last week once again.

thanks for the new release which i have already implemented on my installation. i’m now testing all the different options, no questions so far. but i also have to admit, that i’m not thru with testing all the options so far. i’ll come back to you here in a few days.
