In 2018, before the WordPress 5 update, I created a gallery article that could display one image at a time both on the homepage and the article itself.

Thanks to a slider, people could see the images of the gallery one by one.

However, I can’t get to do the same today. I tried to create a new article (Title “Test 2” on the website) and insert a gallery bloc with pictures + select “gallery” as the type of article. Nothing works.

My previous gallery article (Title “Séjour en Asie” on my website) still work the same as before but when I’m in the editing mode I can’t see the pictures anymore. There is only one text bloc left.

    Thanks for your help!

This website is actually a demo website to help my students learn how to create a portfolio website. I have a course online (in FR) and this actually is a question from a student.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @stephcan,

Galleries in Fukasawa work the same in the Classic Editor as in the Block Editor. I tested it in my local testing environment just to make sure. The way they work is just very convoluted, so I fully understand why your student is having issues with it.

The gallery is displayed when a post is set to the “Gallery” Post Format, and when the user has uploaded images in the media modal while editing the post. That way, the image becomes attached to the post, and gets displayed in the slideshow. Only images uploaded to the post is displayed in the slideshow – images already in the media library can’t be displayed, without being uploaded again while editing the post with the slideshow.

If you want to remove an image from the slideshow of a post, you need to go to Admin → Media, switch to the “List” display mode (in the top left), locate the image you want to remove and click the “Detach” link in the “Uploaded to” column.

It’s a very user-hostile solution that I would rather remove from the theme entirely, but that would break existing galleries for users. I’d recommend you to use some other solution to display slideshows in your posts – the Jetpack Slideshow Block, for example.

@anlino Thanks a lot for your quick answer.

Ok, I understand. I’ll recommend another solution that will be more user friendly.
