Display excerpts instead of whole posts

In the Customizer, click on Content Options; you should see there an option to display post excerpts only. I hope that helps :).

Unfortunately this does not help. I do not have a Content Options in my customizer (I assume that is because I do not have the Jetpack plugin installed).

I would prefer not to install the Jetpack plugin as there have been a lot of issues with it throughout it’s past and recent life.

My hosting provider has just about all the benefits of Jetpack already covered anyway.

Does anyone know of another way to get “Excerpts” to work, perhaps using the functions.php or similar?

Do the Content Options appear under the main Dara theme, rather than the child theme?

I changed back to main Dara theme, no Content Options.
I have also done a fresh WordPress install with only the
Dara theme (no child theme), still no Content Options.

I have now found out that Content Options is part of the
Jetpack plugin, but as I have explained earlier, I would
prefer not to install Jetpack.

The good news is that I have figured out how to display
excerpts without Jetpack (woohoo).
The solution is to add the More block somewhere in the
post.
I can hear seasoned bloggers all over the world laughing.

In my defence, I have been installing and using WordPress
for years but always used as a website without a blog.
Oh well, I guess every day IS a school day :-)
