• Hi,

I’m new to wordpress and GB and trying to avoid php coding as possible.

I would like to design different templates/patterns/Elements (not sure what exactly should be the term here) to different post types. Post type is defined by taxonomy. I defined Taxonomy “Post-Type” with terms: “Deal”, “Bundle” .. and several more. For each term I defined different custom fields using ACF.

What I would like to do is to easily design the look of each Type. I would like to do it within WP.

Do I need to purchase GB Pro for this? Do I have to purchase GB Pro + GP Premium? and If the later does it mean that i’m “locked” and cannot switch themes later?

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

to build templates without code with the GeneratePress Theme; requires the GeneratePress Premium plugin and the GenerateBlocks Free plugin as the very minimum.

If you choose to switch themes in the future then you would need to look for an alternative method to edit that themes templates

    Thanks @diggeddy !

So let me see if I got it right: I have a Taxonomy called Post-Type with term of Deal connected to Posts.

I added using ACF custom fields and connected them to Post with Deal term.

So today I can create a post with Deal Taxonomy (using the free GP+GB). What you are saying is that I need at least GP Premium to be able to design this Deal with the custom fields as well ? Meaning that I will be able to design a template for it and use it in my site for all posts with Deal ? Is there any documentation or video demonstrating it?

    Thanks

Hi @aln50, I would watch this video, it details a script that makes incorporating ACF fields in your content very easy.

thank you @daveporter thats very cool. Besides the script that he used to incorporate the custom field on page what else what he using? is it just GenerateBlocks? I saw he was editing “Elements” where do I find it?

What i want is to design a post with a taxonomy term “Deal” to contain severl ACF field. (Already did that) . I’m developing using REST API a tool that will generate Deal posts and fill the header, title and custom fields. In my site I want to designed how a deal looks like (Template or element or pattern I really don’t know what name should I use) and every time (using REST API) I will submit new posts deals to the sites. The site will show that deal with the fields in a designed nice way.

I managed to create the taxonomy and the ACF custom fields, and generate the posts with the API.

What plugins should be used in order to do the rest i’m kind of lost and appreciate any help. This is my first time in WP and I seems to like GenerateBlocks and want to use it.

Elements is part of GeneratePress Premium plugin:

With Elements you can build templates and templates using the Free ( or Pro ) version of GenerateBlocks.
