    Hello.

We would like to use Directorist for our new project, it’s a great plugin. I need help with one little thing.

I would like to display category description on frontend, e.g. when user clickes location link, page with listings on that location is shown. How do I display location description, that is given in admin setting? Like default WP category posts do.

I’ve found some info that it is not a default funcion of the plugin. Can I manually add any code so it is possible? Can you please advise me where I can add such a code? It would be very helpful.

    Thanks for any responses.

  • Hi @oldrich, sorry about the delay.

You’re right, this is not a default functionality. I assume that you want to show the Location Description on the Single Location Page? In that case, this should be possible.
Could you please get in touch with our technical support? They might be able to help you with this: https://directorist.com/contact.

    Regards,
    Mahdi.

    Hi there,

you have so many request on this matter since 2020 that it should be solved by now. SEO is not made only with Meta Title and Description.

Content is very important. For each Category and Location we should have these fields:
    1. Description: rich text to set H2, H3, links etc. and the possibility to show the content via Elementor (Archive Description)
    2. Meta Title
    3. Meta Description

You marked many of the requests as “solved” but they’re not.

Hi @vaniarensi, sorry about the delay, we were on vacation.

    1. We already give you the option to use WP Editor with the Description field, which you can use to have H2, H3, Anchor, etc.
    2. Meta Title and Meta Description should be available by default.

    Regards,
    Mahdi.

Please refer to this video to see what I tried to do.

We already give you the option to use WP Editor with the Description field, which you can use to have H2, H3, Anchor, etc

    – I tried to format the Category description with an H2. I couldn’t. Can you explain how i can use H2, H3. Achor etc.?

    – I tried to insert the Category description on a page. As @oldrich told, It doesn’t show up. Maybe the field labeled as “Description” when we create a Category is not the category description? Should we use a meta key instead? Which one? Very confusing.

Meta Title and Meta Description should be available by default.

In Setting → Advanced there is a SEO section. For Category I see:
    – Category Page Meta Description
    – Category Page Meta Title

Should we set the same Meta Title and Meta Description for ALL the Categories? That’s totally a bad SEO, I better leave everything empty.

Can we use shortcodes to composte the Title and Description dynamically? Ex
Meta Title: Our best [category-name] offers – [site-name]
If so, where we can find these shortcodes or instructions?

Because the category page is created dynamically via shortocode, we don’t have a “real” page for each category where we can set Metas with a plugin (Rank Math).

The only way to assign a Meta Title and Description for the single category is if you add 2 more fields that we can fill when we create a new category.

FYI: Setting → Advanced → SEO – You give us the option to write metas for the registration page, dashboard age, login page… These are pages that we DON’T WANT to appear on Google SERP, and we give them a noindex. So metas on these pages are useless.

    Hello guys,
hope you all doing well. I’ve seen that this topic is still being worked on.

I tried to modify theme files to display a description on a location page but with no luck.

Then I tried installing a Advanced Custom Fields plugin. I made a custom fields for a single location. Tried to put functions to display fields on frontend in a theme, no luck again. It seem like Directorist overwrites default theme page with his own locatin right? So I need to put a function in a file, that generates a single location page. Can you please advice me, which Directorist file I can modify to show these custom fiels on a single location page?

I would greatly appreciate this advice.

    Thanks
    Old?ich
