Display all authors in dropdown in edit post

  • Am trying to display all authors when I edit posts, even the ones without any posts assigned yet (Authors I created manually later).

    I did some research, thought I found where to make the change:
    wp-includes/author-template.php

    set hide_empty to false for wp_list_authors

    BUT that did not do the trick for me.

    Any idea where and what to change so I can assign other authors to a post – even if they don’t have any posts published yet?

    actually, I looked at the authors that are displayed in the dropdown menu, and some of them do not have any posts?? but then more than half of my authors are not displayed… weird.

    Any idea?

    In what file and what does control this dropdown list content?
