    Hi

    I just installed Advanced Ads on the recommendation of WPMU Dev and I trust those guys a lot..:-).. so I am sure you guys are good at what you do..

    I just had these 2 questions..

    What is this error?
    An error occured: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 3001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received.

    How do I insert ads that I have on my Adbutler account (an Adserver)?
    Normally I would have some place where I need to add their zone tags like the one below..

    <!-- 728x90-xxx-xxxxx [async] -->
    <script type="text/javascript">if (!window.AdButler){(function(){var s = document.createElement("script"); s.async = true; s.type = "text/javascript";s.src = 'https://servedbyadbutler.com/app.js';var n = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; n.parentNode.insertBefore(s, n);}());}</script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var AdButler = AdButler || {}; AdButler.ads = AdButler.ads || [];
    var abkw = window.abkw || '';
    var plc12345 = window.plc12345 || 0;
    document.write('<'+'div id="placement_12345_'+plc12345+'"></'+'div>');
    AdButler.ads.push({handler: function(opt){ AdButler.register(54321, 12345, [728,90], 'placement_12345_'+opt.place, opt); }, opt: { place: plc12345++, keywords: abkw, domain: 'servedbyadbutler.com', click:'CLICK_MACRO_PLACEHOLDER' }});
    </script>

    Regards,
    Alim

    Hi

    I’ve figured out how to add the js for adbutler.. it was pretty simple.. I just got a bit confused..;-).. sorry for that basic query..

    but I am still confused about the error..

    An error occured: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 3001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received.

    please advise..

    However, I do like your plugin and it’s really easy to implement..and use. I had one query regarding ads for desktops and mobiles… for desktops I’d like to have the 728×90 in between posts but for mobiles i’d like them to be 300×250.. how do I achieve this?.. Ad butler provides the option of limiting a campaign to a certain device so I could keep the 728×90 for desktop and 300×250 for mobiles.. but that’d mean I create 2 campaigns in ad butler when I only need one.. Is this the way to do it? Or does your plugin provide some alternate method to replace the 728×90 with a 300×25 by detecting the device?

    This is where I am using it..

    Please do advise..

    Hi

    I’ve added both ads (300×250 and 728×90) into one ad group and am displaying the ad group before, within and after the post content.

    And in the VISITOR condition I have assigned a condition that the 300×250 would be visible on mobile and the 728×90 on a desktop.

    Now this seems to work fine..;-).. but is it really that simple?.. Just wanted to check if that’s the right approach..

    Would the ad not be displayed or be hidden? I am a bit concerned about the numbers that Adbutler would be showing as impressions.. would the ad that is not ‘displayed’ (if it’s hidden) on a desktop be counted as am impression on adbutler?

    And most importantly, is this the right way to achieve my requirement?

    Please advise.

    Regards,
    Alim

    Hi Alim,

    Thanks for reaching out.

    Very interesting to read your process of discovering the features of Advanced Ads. I have to validate your first impression, sometimes it is really that simple =)

    I can also allay your concerns about the double-tracking the ad will only load if the condition is positive for that particular ad.

    Regarding the curl error: Can you please tell me where you have discovered it? Here are some general thoughts on the topic.

    Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,
    Henning
