Display & Importing Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Italian etc from MySQL

    Hi,

    When I enter non-English content into a WordPress create post or page form, the data gets stored into my “utf8 general ci” MySQL database fine and it displays fine.

    However, when I export my MySQL table data into a text file and try to import this text file back into the MySQL database, I see a lot of ? icons where the missing characters are. Why is this so?

    I would like to point out that some, not all non-English characters are missing. In FireFox, I see the missing characters as a diamond shaped icon with a question mark in the centre. In IE7, I see the missing characters as a rectangle.
