Disinfecting a WordPress blog

  • My host told me that they weren’t 100% sure, but that they think several of my WordPress files are infected with malware. They also told me it is up to me fix it.

    I Googled around. The general procedure seems to be

    1. Backup the WordPress files
    2. Backup the WordPress database
    3. Download Both
    4. Disinfect Both
    5 Unistall WordPress and delete all of the files on the server
    6 Install WordPress
    7 Upload back any custom stuff.

    My question is with #4. I am on Mint Linux.

    How do I scan and disinfect the files I download?

    How do I clean any malware out of my database?
