• It is not acceptable to take a fully functional free plugin, update it in a way that breaks important functionality on every site it is on, and also start charging for it. It’s one thing if you want to release Ally as a NEW plugin with enhanced functionality, but that’s not what you did. You completely swapped it. This is very disheartening and disappointing. It certainly encourages me to avoid relying on your products in the future.

Updated from 1 to 3 stars.

    Hi Drew,

I am sorry to hear about our problems with the new update, but I must emphasize that the feature is completely free and does not require any form of payment, only an Elementor account.

Would you mind elaborating why you have the impression you need to pay for it?

If I misunderstood the pricing (it is free and will remain free with all of the original functionality), then I apologize. Of course you have the right to be paid for your work, so if there are plans for fees attached to NEW features, that’s a bit more palatable.
It is confusing to have to create an account, link any sites on which we use the plugin, and then in that account on Elementor’s site it is called “Web Accessibility – Free Trial” with an expiration date and links for upgrading. (It doesn’t even use the plugin name of “Ally”)
This process seems like it caught almost all of your users by surprise – I only stumbled on the fact that you had replaced the plugin on our site and it was no longer working. I have now configured it, but it only works on the desktop version of our site now. The mobile site does not display the menu even though it is turned on in the settings.
I’m sure you have your reasons – but suddenly renaming the plugin, replacing it completely and breaking functionality are not customer friendly choices.

    Hi Drew,

I appreciate your response very much. We all do. It gives us insight into what you look at vs. what we look at.

I have forwarded that to feedback to be changes ASAP, this is not a trial, and expiration date is just there since everything must have one, but even after that date it will not stop working.

    The feature is completely free.

    I thank you very much.

I am updating my review – there was confusion (by a lot of people, it looks like) about this entire upgrade process. Now that I have it connected and configured the plugin, and adapted my cache plugin to account for issues you did not, your plugin is working on desktop and mobile views of our site.
I cannot in good conscience raise this to 5 stars at this time.
This upgrade process was not handled well. Disabling an important plugin, replacing it completely (in an inactive state), forcing users to connect to an account on Elementor, calling it a “Free Trial”, not testing it well enough with at least some of the most commonly used plugins like WP Rocket, etc.

Now that I’m past the shock and these hurdles (for now), the plugin is working as expected and it does work well.
