• Thanks to a partnership with MediaTemple – not sure who paid who – this plugin was installed on a number of LIVE sites without my permission or knowledge. Absolutely shameful.

    Hi James,

We have received your feedback here and via Tweet and we will address it with Media Temple and Go Daddy to see if there is cause to make a change.

If you are having an issue with the plugin itself, please let us know ASAP either by replying to this thread or contacting [email protected].

As an FYI to those reading this feedback: SIDEKICK is pre-installed with Media Temple Managed WordPress sites and upgraded to our premium package free of charge. You will never see an ad or be asked to pay anything for it. Uninstalling it is as simple as deactivating the plugin and deleting it.

Your marketing director needs a swift kick in the balls, because this could have been a fantastic gesture.

The really tragic thing is that this is actually an innovative and useful plugin. Imagine if I’d have woken up to an email from MT saying “Hey, we’ve partnered with this great new plugin from Sidekick that teaches you everything about WordPress interactively while you use it, and we’ve giving you the premium version of the plugin for free – just activate it from your plugins page”.

I would absolutely have installed it on some client sites, and probably would have added it to a mental list of why I love MediaTemple.

And yet the exact same gesture, when forced upon someone, elicits this kind of response.

Everyone loves a free chocolate. But waking up to find one has been rammed in your throat is just not pleasant.

    ;(

    James,

Your colourful and painful suggestion aside for the moment, I hear you.

To be clear, I speak for SIDEKICK not GD or MT however I can tell you that they have received your feedback and I will do what I can to make sure that it’s given the proper attention.

Now, do you think we can find a suitable punishment that doesn’t involve endangering my future children or are you dead set on the ball kick?

    Thank you for your feedback.

    Ben
