Discussion Settings Not Working Correctly

  • I have following in the discussion settings checked:

    1. Allow people to comment.
    2. Comment authors must fill out name and email.
    3. Comment author must have a previously approved comment.

    I have had the site running for 3 yr and there has not been any problem with my readers comments posting as long as the above conditions have been met until recently.

    For whatever reason, everyone’s comments are being held for moderation even though I do NOT have that box checked.

    My readers are filling in their name and email and they all have lots of previous comments but their comments are still being held. I can’t find a reason for this and they are getting frustrated and I can’t sit in front of the computer all day checking for held comments.

    Is there some other setting in addition to the ones in the Discussion Settings that I should be checking?

  • Is it possible that you changed the automatic setting to hold comments in the moderation queue if they contain X links to 0? That would result in the behavior you’re experiencing, because that basically tells WP to hold all comments for moderation. If that’s the case, try setting that to 1.
