    Hello,

I am seeing significant differences between the Google Site Kit reported web traffic and our own GA4 traffic.

This is the reported metrics from the past 90 days on the Google Site Kit

While these are the same metrics from GA4 when I click the outbound link in the bottom right hand corner.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation? I suspect that the Google Site Kit is more accurate than GA4 at this point, and that the GA4 code is firing multiple times for singular sessions/events, but I do not know where to begin to resolve this issue.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Hello @jakealfo thanks for getting in touch. Sorry to hear that you are seeing these discrepancies between Site Kit and Analytics. To help you further with this please could you share the following:

    1. Your?Site Health information. You can?use this form?to share privately if preferred.
    2. A recording of your Site Kit stats with you clicking through to your Analytics account to compare the stats. You can use a service such as?Loom?for this.

Were your Site Kit dashboard data and Analytics account data previously matched or has this been a problem from when you first set up Site Kit?

Please note that the information shown within the Site Kit dashboard pulls information from a users Analytics account using the Google Analytics reporting API, so typically the figures should be similar for the same metrics.

You will also need to account for API reporting periods for Site Kit which report up until the previous day. This means you may see some slight discrepancies between the data you see in Site Kit and what you can see in your Analytics account.

You may also find our?Using the Site Kit dashboard page?useful for more information on each section of the dashboard. Let me know if you have any questions in the meantime.

    Hi Adam,

Thanks for the quick response. I filled out the form regarding the site health info. The loom recording is below.

This has been on ongoing issue since the sitekit was set up. I was not at the company when google analytics was implemented, we have also built a new website in the past year. The difference between site kit and GA4 is about 40%, so I am not sure if the API reporting period could account for such a stark difference.

Thank you again for your help.

@jakealfo Thanks for sharing the information and the recording which is very helpful to see. When checking your site source code I can see a couple of things that could perhaps be interfering with this.

      1. You have the GTM4WP plugin active on your site currently as well as using Site Kit to place your GTM code. We would recommend only using Site Kit to do this or if you wish to use another plugin then Site Kit should still detect your GTM code and you can chose for Site Kit not to place this.
      2. You are using optimization plugins such as the Jet plugins you have active on your site. I can also see you have used WP Rocket. You could try temporarily disabling these and checking your Analytics statistics over the next 24 hours.

It’s also worth noting that more help with Analytics specifically can be found at the Analytics Help Center. Let me know if you have any questions on the above.
