Discrepancy between block editor and html generated in the browser

i have a custom template consisting of a header, group block and footer with the 3 as siblings but in the edge and brave browsers inspector it shows it as a child of the group block even though the list view shows the 3 as siblings. i tried deleting it and re adding it but it still seems to be in the group block according to the inspector. i made my group block into a pattern and deleted it and the footer remained both in the block editor and browser as children of wp-site-blocks. i then re added my pattern between header and footer and released it and the browser still says its a child of the group block again. leaving it as a pattern also shows the same thing, its a child of wp-block-group
