• Greetings,

Thank you for this plugin. I have attempted to search through the support pages for an answer to my issue, but did not notice any posts with a similar question. My apologies upfront if this has already been answered/addressed.

While testing the plugin within the Sandbox environment, it appears that the donations being recorded do not reflect the choices made when the user makes the donation. For example, when the user elects to make a recurring donation, or be added to the mailing list, or to remain anonymous, those choices do not appear on the Donations record. It states:

    Add to Mailing List? No
Would like to remain anonymous? No
    Repeating? No

I’m curious if this is exclusive to the Sandbox environment, or if this is an issue that will also occur when switched to my live Production environment.

Thank you in advance for your help.

I definitely should NOT be exclusive to the sandbox. Don’t go live until this is figured out. While anonymous and mailing list are just data elements passed back through PayPal, the repeating option triggers a different PayPal interface, so it should be reflected in what you’re doing.

I also haven’t heard similar reports. What version of the plugin are you using? Do you have a gear icon or a palm tree icon on your donations menu?

Has anyone else encountered this behavior? With what version of the plugin?

Thanks for your quick reply, David.

I am currently running version 4.01 of the plugin. However, the behavior was the same in my previous version (3.xx).

When redirected to the PayPal (sandbox) site at checkout, it appears that PayPal recognizes my choice of recurring billing and notes that accordingly at checkout. It’s when I return to the WordPress admin page to view the transaction that I see the information is not noted correctly within the ‘Donation Details’ section. Each transaction is recorded with the same information regardless of what was entered prior to checkout.

    For example:

    Add to mailing list?
    Would like to remain anonymous?
    Tribute Gift
    Repeating

All state ‘No’ even though they should reflect ‘Yes’ based on the information entered when the donation was made.

Well, if the behavior is the same in 3.3, that means that it’s survived a lot of use. You’re probably safe to use it with PayPal and not get any weird accounting mishaps on the PayPal side.

I did record it as a bug and I’ll dig through it, try to reproduce, and fix it. Thanks for double-checking the two versions. Big help.

    Thanks, David.

Because of the issue, I never went forward and used the plugin on my Production site. When I noticed that there was a major update recently (4.0), I upgraded in hopes that the issue would be resolved.

Because I am simply the site administrator, I don’t deal with any of the accounting. I’m just the guy that makes sure the site functions and has the responsibility of reporting the statistics to others. Since my window into the transactions isn’t PayPal but rather the information complied in the site, I won’t have accurate data to present if this issue is present outside the Sandbox. For this reason, I don’t think it’s a good idea to turn it on within Production until I hear back from you.

Let me know if there is any other information I can provide in order to facilitate a fix.

    Thanks again!

Yeah, I would agree. I’ve got it listed as a bug and I’ll dig into it. Stay tuned.
