Discount expiry timezone

    The coupon expiry doesn’t appear to follow the timezone settings in WordPress. Today’s date for the site I’m running is September 10th, 2020 (10-09-2020). I’ve set a discount to start tomorrow, September 11th, 2020 (11-09-2020). However, the discount is currently showing up on the store. Does the plugin use the WP timezone or UTC by default?

    • My WP site is set to use PDT (Los Angeles) Timezone.
    • Mysql is set to use the SYSTEM timezone
    • The server timezone is PDT (Los Angeles)
    • Under WooCommerce > Status I see “Default timezone is UTC: ?”

    I’m assuming this has something to do with Woocommerce using the default timezone and/or mysql using the SYSTEM timezone? If this is indeed what’s going on, would it make more sense if the plugin used the same timezone as the WordPress settings?

    Currently, we are setting the time based on UTC Timezone for the rule in the plugin. This change will be included in our next release, ie to set the rule timezone based on your WordPress timing. For now, You may use the conversion from UTC?+0 to your timezone.

    Can you please explain what you mean by this? The plugin doesn’t have time-based granularity when setting expiry does it? So unless I’m missing something, there’s no way to correctly adjust the expiry time for the incorrect timezone settings to have the discount turn off on the correct date?

    Yes, In the rule section–> Under Adjustment –> You will find an option?to set rules expiry date (From Date including Hours – To Date excluding hours).
    This hour needs to be set based on UTC timings. You can make a calculation and apply accordingly to set Hours.
    As mentioned in the previous message, In the next update, we will implement the timing based on WordPress timezone. Feel free to contact the support team and we shall help you in configuring it on your website.
