discount code error

You are not alone. Even though it happens for me with “normal” discounts that isn’t 100% of the price. I also stumbled into the situation that if you set the usage limit of a discount code to 1, then the discount isn’t passed to PayPal, regardless of which plugin you use… I know the last bit doesn’t apply to your situation with 100% discounts, but something is clearly wrong with the discounts in WooCommerce.

@jimmyhahn do you use WPML on your site?

I was aI rely don’t understand, cuss woocommerce is the most use all over the world and so small errors for the best plugins?? Hmm I am lost?

Dos any have a fix to this or maybe a workaround for it?

Hi there Jimmy,

If I understand correctly, the issue you are seeing is that it uses 2 of the 4 coupon uses at one time, correct? So after applying the coupon at Checkout and placing the first order with that coupon, the coupon shows “2/4” in the Usage/Limit — is that correct?

I tried copying the settings you described, but do not see the same thing. After applying the coupon and checking out, it just shows “1/4” for the usage:

Please send screenshots of each settings tab for your coupon that you’ve created, and the Coupon as it shows in the Marketing > Coupons list before and after using it. I recommend https://snipboard.io for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL in your reply here.

Also, please share a copy of your site’s System Status. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it here in your reply.

Thank you for sending over the screenshots and status report!

That is certainly strange behavior that you are seeing on the site / in those screenshots, and surely not expected behavior.

I don’t see any particular plugins in the report that might be causing this — I was checking for any coupon-related ones, or perhaps WPML as @armbreakersweden mentioned, which might cause it to be redeemed once for each language, however don’t see anything that stands out.

This sort of random/unexpected behavior is usually caused by a conflict with code in either a custom theme or another active plugin. To narrow down what is causing this, please try temporarily disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce, and switch back to a default theme like Storefront. After that, check to see if the issue with the coupons is resolved. If that resolves the issue, then re-activate your theme first, and then plugins one at a time until you find the one that’s causing the issue.

To avoid affecting your customers, you may want to do this on a test/staging site. If you don’t have one already, your hosting company might offer one as part of your package. Alternatively, you can use a free plugin like WP Staging for quickly creating a new test site.

Hmm now I have tried myself a bit and found a big mistake in my shop.

If I make an order and put it for payment completed then it draws 2 discount coupons. If I make a new order and set it to pending payment, it only draws one, but when I later put the order for payment completed, it draws an extra? That’s what I’ve got right now ??

Thank you for the extra info here! So, it’s not when a customer places a normal order on the frontend and uses the coupon, but when you create the order in wp-admin and apply the coupon there.

I tested that on my site and was able to reproduce the issue. I see there was a similar issue reported to the developers, so I’ve added this extra info here:

For now though, if you are doing it all manually in the backend, then perhaps the best workaround for now would be to set the usage limit to double what you expect.
