• I usually buy premium plugins as they are generally more robust and I do not have to waist time with bugs and issues. After choosing BackWPUp based on how good their website looked I have had all the usual problems of a free plugin – constant bugs and painful setup processes.

After installing it on 4 different websites each one had to be ‘bug fixed’ to get it to actually make a backup. Then they had to all be fixed a few weeks later when they failed. There is also no nice way of making it plug into Google Drive (perhaps there is no way for any software to do this but it’s very technical

Their support was good – tickets answered within the day. However for a premium plugin I expect to not need support as the developers should have put the time in to make it ‘just work’

    Recommendations:
    – Significantly easier Google Drive Setup process
    – The standard bugs that get sent back from Google Drive should have ‘human’ error messages with a link to a guide on the BackWPUp site taking you through how to fix that specific bug. Most of the issues have been with my Google Drive setup and if I was a Google Pro I would have been able to fix these easily (however myself and most people are not)
    – ‘1 click backup’ feature (there’s heaps of questions even in the Wizard version of the setup)

Just so I Understand your review, You chose BackWPup Free (Reviews here are for what’s listed, and it’s the Free Version listed here) because their Website Looked Good!?!?

Then you purchased the Premium Version only to have problems in All Your Sites?!?!

And finally, you wanted a Premium Version to Just Work on all the thousands of different server combinations out in the real world?!?!

Sorry – But I’m not sure if any of your review made any sense -> to me!

Chook you have some valid points.

Generally I’ve found that if a company puts the hard yards into make their sales pipeline look great then they’ve also done that in the rest of their business. A generalisation for sure

    All the best!
