disappearing sidebar

    I have seen several topics regarding disappearing sidebars but no resolution. When I create or edit a post within the WordPress editor, sometimes, but not every time, and with no consistency that I can determine, the sidebar will disappear for some or all posts. I can search posts and they are there, but some posts and the sidebar will disappear. Sometimes if I delete one post the sidebar will reappear. I can post from flickr and the sidebar remains if I don’t go in and edit through the WordPress editor. I opened my WordPress account through Yahoo. I am using the themes that come loaded. If I change themes it doesn’t seem to matter. I am new to blogging and am remedial with coding, so I don’t know where to begin. Please help.

  • Just to clarify: you did NOT open a WordPress acount through Yahoo.
    You have a domain hosted at Y! (very bad choice, BTW) and you probably used their own “customized” WP install. We are not really familiar with that setup, we just hate it… it causes too much trouble for users and too many frustrated helpers around here ??

    As for the “disappearing” things: I suspect you are using the WYSIWYG (RTE) editor and copying text into it – which always ends up with a lot of garbage code.

    Thanks for your response and the clarifications. Argh, do you have any suggestions for better choices to get me on the right track?
